Survival mode updated, free testing for everyone!

notch:

Survival mode has been updated and is now out of closed alpha and is not in open alpha. That means that anyone can try it, even if you haven’t even signed up on the site.

Changes:

+ New creature: Spider. It jumps.
+ Mining rock gives you cobblestone instead of flat rock
+ Mining ore gives you that resource instead of the ore
+ Mining coal gives you stone slabs, for stair building (temporary until crafting)
+ Creeper explosions no longer destroy rock
+ F5 toggles a rain rendering effect
+ You can turn on or off the frame rate limiting in the options
+ You start with 10 TNT blocks. Hit them for maximum fun.
+ A bunch of minor tweaks

Bugs:

* Old saved games might not work. If you’ve got a save that doesn’t work and you want it to work, please don’t save over that slot and come talk to me on irc. I want to fix this.

I will update the creative mode client tomorrow, on Sunday, or at the latest on Tuesday, depending on how buggy it is. Servers will have to be updated as well to support the new tile types.

This is completely awesome, but TNT should blow up rock tiles. That will be awesome when you can craft your own!

Minecraft

Minecraft is looking more and more badass. And I’m becoming more and more impatient. At least I have school to keep my mind off it.

My WoW gold strategy... so far

I’ve found that I can make a decent (at least I think it’s decent, remember I’m level 20) amount of gold… by reselling Linen and Wool Cloth on the Auction House. Wool Cloth has more potential because of the reputation quests, but there’s less noobs to sell Wool Cloth. Then again, it doesn’t take much Wool Cloth to profit above Linen Cloth. Anyway…

It’s a great idea to buy cloth in the middle of the night. You see, there’s less people to buy up amazing deals. Then, you can sell them at regular prices. Simple, you make gold. I made 40 gold yesterday, and I didn’t even log on because of Silver Day’s festival, and my brother’s wedding reception later in the day.

EA Possibly Returning to the 'Theme Park' Series

Anyone remember the Theme Park series? SimCoaster seemingly ended the series when the developer, Bullfrog Productions, merged into EA. But it seems the mega-gaming giant hasn’t forgotten joy of managing a theme park. Or, more likely, they haven’t forgotten the joy of swimming in money from those who enjoy managing a theme park. Then again, EA could be merely protecting their intellectual property with this trademark they filed recently.

THC

notch:

Congratulations, Kristoffer and Anna-Stina!

I haven’t know you for a long time, but I love you both.
There’s something weird about you, though. Something almost sane.

THC is the active ingredient in Cannabis, more commonly known as marijuana.

That's a lot to take in

Yes, it is a lot to take in.

I'm alive

Really, I am.

This is copy pasta

One of four titles used to classify someone based on their technical and social skills. The other three titles are nerd, dork, and normie. The difference between the four titles can be easily shown in table form:

……………. Technical …… Social
Title ………… Skills ……… Skills
————— ———————— ——————
Normie ……… No …………. Yes
Geek ……….. Yes ………… Yes
Nerd ………… Yes ………… No
Dork ………… No ………….. No

Normie: A normal person. Blah.

Geek: An outwardly normal person who has taken the time to learn technical skills. Geeks have as normal a social life as anyone, and usually the only way to tell if someone is a geek is if they inform you of their skills.

Nerd: A socially awkward person who has learned technical skills due to the spare time they enjoy from being generally neglected. Their technical knowledge then leads normies to neglect them even further, leading to more development of their technical skills, more neglection, etc. This vicious cycle drives them even more into social oblivion.

Dork: A person who, although also socially awkward, doesn’t have the intelligence to fill the void with technical pursuits, like a nerd, and is forced to do mindless activities. Almost always alone. Usually with an XBox. Like playing Halo. All day. Every day. Not even understanding how the Xbox is making the pretty pictures on the screen. Very sad.

If you met me at a party, you would have no idea that I enjoy finite element analysis-based inviscid flow modelling using computational fluid dynamics. That’s because I’m a geek.

Give a little for a lot (wholesale), get a lot give a little (retail)

Eh, this an amazingly the way it works. I’m probably gonna be a millionaire some day, though I am much more liberal than this ‘Carter’.
Do you wan’t proof I’m going to be a millionaire? Ok, tomorrow I’m going to a free real estate seminar. Why, of course it makes sense. Real estate is popular. Popular = Oversaturated. It’s so stupid. But I must regress to progress…
Honestly, I’d be more interested in studying the way the seminar is presented. Instead of attempting to break out into real estate (I think of real estate investing similar to MLM. Not everyone needs a dozen homes), I’d much prefer to get people coming to a ‘free seminar’ and upselling them to an established program. Can’t you see the gears turning? If they think they can get rich through real estate, good on them. They can try. But no, I see far more potential in taking the suckers, telling them how to find a cheap house, then handing them over to a program such as Robert Allens course, and pocketing the nice commissions I get. Seriously, why not?

I Have 3 followers!

I must shout my joy from some place very high!

g2buy: Scam, or not?

After being apparently scammed, I explained that I was reselling and couldn’t afford to have time lost. I also explained that I could not provide the id they required. Rather promptly (unfortunately 20 minutes after I fell asleep), they sent all the keys I ordered. That doesn’t mean, however, that they’re definitely not scammers. It could possibly mean they see potential for me to keep buying, since I’m reselling. Conclusion: They may be friendly to me and no one else.

Awesome

eBay’s going to make me rich!

Hanging out with REAL friends

Somehow, I’ve accomplished the amazing feat of inventing the internet and dozens of people along with it. Obviously, be extension, I am the genius behind Wenubs, but that doesn’t really matter, because I made up all potential Wenubs readers.
Anyhow, I would be in an insane asylum, except I’ve never strangled a fat guy. As it stands, my online psychiatrist, who also predicts the future, recommends that I hang out with real friends. Unfortunately, I would, except honestly I don’t sleep at night. I haven’t slept since the last time I woke up, which was sometime around 8:00 PM yesterday. I’ve considered polyphasic sleeping… but I’ve never really had the willpower to attempt such a feat. Then again, as you all know (because I invented you), I invented polyphasic sleeping.
Turns out I really need to get some sleep. Good night :D
